[ l i s t e d ] DAY TWO ~ GOALS FOR SEPTEMBER

1. September is the last stretch of this term, I have a lot of assessments and reports to finish. Just today me and my partner finished a 45-second commercial. The commercial took us about four hours to finish from conceptualisation to recording and then finally to editing. My eyes are swollen. And this is just one of my assessments! I really hope that my juggling between work and school will prove to be fruitful ~

2. I’ve been working on two embroidery projects, free patterns that I took from Wild Olive. I hope to post it within this month.

3. Trying to be healthy despite by busy, crazy schedule. My goal is to exercise three times a week for at least thirty minutes or an hour. Of course healthy eating is also part of the equation.

4. Once all my assessments are completed, I would want to go play with all the cameras that I have DSLR, digital, LOMO and instax. A self-date is in order to reward myself for all the hard work I’ve done.

5. I really, really love studying Korean. But the recent busyness the time allotted for reviewing grammar concepts and vocabulary has given way to my studies or sleeping. I try to sneak in Korean whenever I can, paying more attention when I watch variety shows – learning new words and honing my listening skills.

6. I am excited to start a new phase in my writing, and I am really grateful for the opportunity to be in a place where I can write articles that I am passionate about!

September has started and I believe that it gets better and better! 2012 will be my best year yet!

[ l i s t e d ] DAY ONE ~ I AM A LISTER BECAUSE

OH WOW!

It’s already September, it’s been a long time since I’ve been in this blog. Today marks the first day of the 30 Days List Challenge and here’s my short but sweet list – done within five minutes and uplaoded within ten minutes (including turning the WiFi connection on) I really gotta go for another appointment so I’ll just put this up here!

Lots of love~

[ p l a n s ] Learning Korean

Continuing my series of posts on my mid-year goals, this is the second post.

안녕하세요!

저는 엘이에요. 만나서 반가워요.

This is how I would usually introduce myself when asked by friends or family members to speak Korean. I have been learning Korean for almost three months now, and the more I learn the less I know.

It has always been one of my goals to speak another language apart from English and Tagalog, it was just a matter of WHAT language I should study.

My love for Korean dramas and the lack of available English subtitles forced me to choose to learn Korean. Although subtitles are crucial to any non-Korean fan, I feel that reading subtitles actually hinders me from appreciating the drama because I can fail to detect the nuances of the story or character because my eyes are too busy reading the words at the bottom of the screen.

I admit that at first I was daunted by the task of learning a new language since it has been almost a decade that I have been in a classroom environment. But as I continue to attend lessons and meet like-minded people I become more motivated to learn a little bit more each day.

I can now make basic sentences but I am still far from my NO SUBS goal. I also want to read Korean literature and of course finally understand what my favorite artistes are saying on twitter without having to rely on the shady Google Translate.

There are times when I understand a phrase from a song that I’m listening to and my heart will just swell with pride because I know what those three or four words meant.

Aside from learning the language, I get to learn more about Korean culture, food and of course converse with Koreans. Thankful for the Internet and app developers for making my Korean language learning fun. I am also thankful for my 선생님 (teacher) because she has really made herself available to help me and talk to me. I am the type of person who needs to have a good relationship with my teacher so that I can learn more.

I have just started stage two of the elementary level and my drive and thirst to learn has not waned, in fact the will to learn has grown. I don’t know where this learning journey will take me, but as with everything I do – I will do my best!

[ l i s t e d ] DAY TWO: This Month’s Goals

Click here to join 30 Days of Lists

We are now on DAY TWO of 30 Days of Lists, you can participate right here. Today’s list is of the digital kind because I did not have the time to create something handmade.

The prompt for today is “THIS MONTH’S GOALS“. I admit I was a little bit too scared to list it all down and post it because I know that as soon as I publish this – my friends would make me keep my word (the goal RUN! RUN! RUN! is what scares me the most).

I try to keep my goals balanced but most of the stuff on this list is all about making or creating and when I am not making something I am feeding my mind.

RUN! RUN! RUN! scares me because I am really not the type to exercise. But I have also made a commitment to lead a healthier lifestyle this year so I am going to keep that commitment.

I bought  Keri Smith’s Finish This Book to keep myself focused on exploring and creating.  After 30 Days of Lists I plan to use this book as a prompt for my future blog posts.

And the hardest thing to do for me is to BE ORGANIZED because of the limited space and time that I have to sit down and sort through stuff.

I guess for the next three days I will be doing digital lists because I will be quite busy.

How did you guys find my goals? What are your goals for this March 2012?

This is me for now, it’s 1 AM and I am gonna knock off!

[ l i s t e d ] DAY ONE: CHALLENGES TO ACCEPT

Hello there lovelies!

I am so excited to announce the first online project that I am participating  in 30 DAYS OF LISTS by Kam of Campfire Chic and Amy of Lemon and Raspberry. One of  my goals this year is to actively be creative and find different channels to express creativity. Every day for this month I will be responding to the prompts over at 30 Days of Lists – for now I have decided to use both traditional and digital list-making methods.

DAY ONE: CHALLENGES TO ACCEPT

I challenge you to make your life a masterpiece. I challenge you to join the ranks of those people who live what they teach, who walk their talk.
- Tony Robbins

DAY ONE{back to basics}

The first prompt is – CHALLENGES TO ACCEPT. Creating today’s list was a challenge because I definitely did not have enough time. Time meaning an hour or so in my room with all my craft and scrapbook materials and my choice of music to get me in my groove. As it says in the Bible, “If you wait for perfect conditions it will never come”, on a whim I brought the basic materials – glue, scissor, a magazine page, and as an embellishment a roll of overexposed film with me to work.

I arrived thirty minutes before my work day started so I began to prepare how I want my list to look like.

{first look}

Live my life like a masterpiece{ live my life like a masterpiece}

It was easy narrow down the challenges I think I should accept, because my priorities right now are to get into school and explore more ways in creative self-expression.

DAY ONE: Challenges to Accept

The first piece is satisfactory so far, here’s to hoping that I do finish this series of 30 Lists in 30 Days!

[ l i s t e d ] The A-Z of Me

SHINEE Concept with Shao Ying Sum Clarisse and Tanaka Raisa

Hello! How’s everyone doing? I realize that I rarely post personal stuff on my blog, and since after all this is my blog, I want to share a few things with my readers. I found this from Mandypants of Miss Indie.

A. Age: is just a number, and as Oscar Wilde once said, “One should never trust a woman who tells her real age. If she tells that, she’ll tell anything”.
B. Bed size: I think it’s a QUEEN
C. Chore that you hate: I like to fold laundry but I hate putting them in their respective drawers – it just seems to irritate me the most!
D. Dogs: are my ideal pets, they’re active, energetic, loyal and fun!
E. Essential start to your day: I check for new messages on my Blackberry for weekdays on weekends, the heat from the noonday sun streaming through my window.
F. Favorite color: Bottle Green, Lemon Yellow, Terra Cotta and Royal Blue! Sorry if I picked a lot!
G. Gold or Silver: I grew up wearing gold or going to souks looking for gold accessories but now I’m more of a silver person.
H. Height: 5’1 [I used to feel bad about being short, although I can't wear maxi dresses I'm OK with being a shorty now, just don't tease me about it.]
I. Instruments you play: I only play the guitar…and I’m only a mediocre guitar player.
J. Job title: DESIGNER…but not the conventional one, I deal with fibre-optics.
K. Kids: Want them! But I have to find a partner first!
L. Live:  in three Asian cities, and moved countless of times, isn’t it a wonder I rarely want to travel?
M. Mother’s name: Loida~ such a unique and pretty name!
N. Nicknames: I have tons -  Elle, Gina, Princess, Juju, Lerms, Jay, JL, Pie, Mother, Lola – people like to give me nicknames.
O. Overnight hospital stays: Only when I was born just like Mandy.
P. Pet peeves: Long bus queues, you know at the end of a very long day of work and you’re just tired that you can’t even bring yourself to put one foot in front of the other , you just want to get home but the bus takes aeons to arrive? Yes, I have to deal with this everyday.
Q. Quote from a movie:

Gregory Larkin: You don’t use make-up, do you?
Rose Morgan: What’s the point? I’d still look like me, only in color.

R. Right or left handed: Pseudo-ambidextrous, whenever the mood strikes me!
S. Siblings: a younger brother and a younger sister.
U. Underwear: I like boyshorts…a lot.
V. Vegetable you hate: I really dislike celery, in all my life I think I ate it only twice, and by force.
W. What makes you run late: A new episode of  the latest Japanese or Korean drama I am watching

.
X. X-Rays you’ve had: Only my teeth!
Y. Yummy food that you make: I can bake! Cakes and cookies especially Pineapple Upside Down Cake and Oatmeal cookies, and Korean rice cake in spicy sauce.
Z. Zoo animal: white tigers, I love white tigers!

Wow, who knew it would take me so long to type A-Z? Have a lovely weekend!
